Canal House Receives 2013 James Beard Book Award

Each spring, the James Beard Foundation recognizes the best of the best in food and beverage professionals in North America. Last Friday evening, the nominees for the James Beard Foundation Book Awards gathered in Gotham Hall in New York City for the cookbook publishing event of the year. 

This year, Andrews McMeel Publishing's very own Canal House Cooks Every Day by Melissa Hamilton & Christopher Hirsheimer was honored at the JBF Book Awards. 

Canal House Cooks Every Day took home the General Cooking Award at the ceremony. The delicious, easy-to-prepare recipes within the book celebrate the everyday practice of simple cooking and the enjoyment of eating. Their recipes reflect the seasons, their appetites, their cravings, the occasions, and/or the demands of feeding their own busy families. 

Fire in My Belly by Kevin Gillespie was also nominated for a JBF Award in the American Cooking category. 

Tonight we're keeping our fingers crossed as Kansas City's very own Colby Garrelts of Bluestem is nominated in the Best Chef: Midwest category. Good luck!
